This position is based in our regional shared services office, located in the Lao capital of Vientiane. Operating as PanAust Asia, our shared services team provides strategic and transactional support to our Lao and Thai operations and projects across a range of functions including Government and External Affairs, Sustainability, Commercial and Human Resources.
As Financial Reporting and Accounting Superintendent, you will report to the Commercial Manager and lead a team of approximately 15 across Financial Reporting, Taxation, Accounts Payable and Compliance. This is a newly created role resulting from the recent implementation of the Shared Services model, providing scope to really make your mark through the development of financial reports, implementation of our internal compliance function and process mapping to underpin continuous process improvement. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Manager within a chartered environment to take your first step into a large in-house role, or for someone already in a similar position seeking the challenge and reward of an expatriate posting.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Provide leadership and management of the financial reporting & tax function for PanAust Asia
- Manage the preparation and completion of annual IFRS compliant financial reports
- Consolidation of monthly P&L, Balance Sheet and cash flow reports
- Prepare and review tax calculations and annual tax returns Lao and Thai entities
- Undertake tax planning to identify opportunities to minimise tax within Laos and Thailand
- Supervise the month end process Review the completion of royalty calculations and returns
- Responsible for the administration of the Phu Bia Mining ERP system
- Process mapping for Accounting and Financial Reporting & Taxation procedures
- Development of local employees in relation to financial reporting, tax and cash management.
We are seeking:
- Internationally recognised degree level qualification in accounting or finance, and CA/CPA
- 8 – 10 years experience including recent experience at Manager (or equivalent) level
- Understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards
- Experience in a Shared Services environment with a large corporate highly desirable
- Experience with Pronto or similar ERP
- Outstanding leadership skills and a desire to develop national team
- Strong process and improvement focus
